Michael is a well known and respected identity within the resources industry, both in Australia and internationally. Part of his success, he attributes to having "started at the bottom". He began his career in the transport industry as a management cadet and has since worked at all levels. This on-ground experience, coupled with vision and leadership, has helped him carve his reputation for results.
He was Managing Director of Consolidated Minerals from 1998 until he stepped down in June 2006. He was instrumental in reconstructing Consolidated Minerals, re-listing the company in 1999 and building the company to become a significant diverse resources group which was included in the ASX 200.
Michael is currently Chairman Territory Resources Limited (carbon steel commodity supplier), Monarch Gold Mining Company (gold developer), Mineral Resources Ltd (contracting group), India Resources Limited (copper, diamond and coal), Precious Metals Australia Ltd (vanadium) and Director Matilda Minerals Limited (mineral sands).
He has more than 30 years experience in transport, mining, contracting and resources industries, including the development and operation of mining projects in manganese, chromite, iron ore, nickel, tin and gold.
