140th Sydney Mining Club Luncheon
12.30pm
Tattersalls Club

The year end Xmas Club function is always a popular event. The growing importance of the Asian economies led by China, the hunger for resources and the significant flow of investment funding pouring into Australian resource projects makes an Asian Focus ideal for the closing event. Because of the focus, the SMC has invited the Asia Society and Asialink to join us in putting on the closing 2009 presentation.

We have invited a panel of experts with an excellent depth and spread of experience across the Asian Region and in particular, in China and India, to discuss and debate a range of challenging topics. Geoffrey 'Malnic' Robertson will be the moderator, stage managing the various topics and the panel will be allocated specific identities to respond to the hypothetical situations. We hope the topics and the discussion will be relevant, challenging and informative.

Our Patron, Trevor Sykes will represent your Club, and with his vast experience as a resource-focused journalist and writer, requires no formal introduction. The Asian panel experts comprise Peter Church OAM with extensive Foreign Investment experience in SE Asia and India in particular; Jason Yat-sen Li, MD of a strategy and investment advisory firm headquartered in Beijing; and Harold Weldon, MD of another Beijing based consulting firm and also Foreign Advisor to the National Development and Reform Commission of China. Summary bios for these three panel members are provided below.

Bookings for the 140th open on Monday 16th November. Table bookings must provide names to Administration by 5pm, Thursday 26th November or vacant seats on reserved tables will be allocated to individual members still chasing a place.
