Feeding the Global Copper Shortage
– from Spain to Botswana to WA

At 12pm on the 6th of June at The Ivy, the Sydney Mining Club will host the CEO and Managing Director of Sandfire Resources Brendan Harris; and the Executive Chairman of Cobre Limited Martin Holland to discuss their copper projects that span Botswana, Spain and Western Australia.

Sandfire Resources (ASX: SFR) – CEO and Managing Director, Brendan Harris

Sandfire Resources is one of the most exciting copper players on the ASX producing tens of thousands of tonnes of copper each year across its two major projects in Spain and Botswana.

In Spain, Sandfire has three mines and a 4mtpa processing facility – smack bang in the middle of the Iberian Pyrite Belt. There the company processed 4.4Mt of ore in Q3 FY24 on an annualised basis – yielding a hefty 14.2kt of copper, 18.5kt of zinc, 1.4kt of lead and 600koz of silver.

Similar results were posted from Botswana where Sandfire has three mines and a 5.2mtpa processing facility in the Kalahari Copper Belt. There the company processed 4.7Mt of ore in Q3 FY24 on an annualised basis – yielding 10.8kt of copper and 300koz of silver.

With an Underlying Operations EBITDA margin of 45% and a market capitalisation of $4.5bn, Sandfire couldn’t be better placed as the world’s copper shortage grips.

Cobre Limited (ASX: CBE) – Executive Chairman, Martin Holland

Cobre Limited is a pure play copper exploration and development growth company within the Kalahari copper belt in Botswana.

Cobre Limited (via its wholly-owned subsidiary Cobre-Kalahari) controls approximately 5,348 km2 of tenements within the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) in Botswana. The KCB is regarded as one of the most prospective areas globally for copper exploration by the US Geological Survey (USGS), with a number of copper-silver deposits currently in production. Cobre was awarded to be part of the BHP 2024 Xplor Cohort.
