A Rare Earth Revolution on the East Coast
– Two Australian Companies Nearing REE Production in New South Wales and Victoria

At 12.15pm on the 1st of August at The Ivy, the Sydney Mining Club will host the Managing Director and CEO of Australian Strategic Materials Rowena Smith; and the Executive Director and CEO of VHM Limited Ron Douglas present to looming Rare Earths Projects.

Australian Strategic Materials (ASX: ASM) – Managing Director & CEO Rowena Smith

ASX-listed Australian Strategic Materials (ASM) is an emerging vertically integrated producer of critical metals for new growth industries, advanced technologies and sustainable energy solutions. ASM is building a mine to metals business to extract, refine and manufacture high-purity metals and alloys for a global customer base.

ASM’s Dubbo Project is the Company’s cornerstone rare earths and critical minerals mining and processing project. Located in New South Wales, Australia, this globally significant resource has a 20-year life of mine based on reserves and a potential further 50 years of resource. Mined resources from the Dubbo Project will be separated and refined on site to produce a range of metal oxides and mixed chlorides. These products will be processed at ASM’s metallisation plants or sold directly to global customers.

ASM’s flagship metals plant in Ochang, Korea was commissioned in 2022 and is now in production of neodymium metals and alloys, with contracts to supply customers in Korea and the US.

VHM Limited (ASX: VHM) – Executive Director & CEO Ron Douglas

VHM Limited is developing its Goschen Rare Earths and Mineral Sands Project in north-western Victoria and will produce monazite for Rare Earths, zircon and titanium minerals.

The 820MT resource has a total heavy mineral percentage of 2.95% and an assemblage of 21.2% zircon, 11% rutile, 12.1% leucoxene, 3.5% monazite and 0.7% xenotime.

All up, VHM has a rare earth deposit of 413,107 tonnes of total rare earth oxides (TREO).

VHM’s updated definitive feasibility study outlines a mining and treatment operation of 5.0 Mtpa. The Victorian Minister for Planning is currently assessing VHM’s proposal for a mining licence over its Goschen Project. A final decision is expected in the coming months and will carry implications for mine operators across Victoria.
