The Super-Magnetic Future for Rare Earths
Three Australian Companies to Fill the Non-China Rare Earths Supply Gap
At 5:30pm on the 2nd of May at The Establishment, the Sydney Mining Club will host Lindian Resources MD Alister Stephens; the Australian Rare Earths MD Travis Beinke; and Venture Minerals MD Andrew Radonjic to present their array of Rare Earth Metal Projects from Victoria to Malawi.
Lindian Resources (ASX: LIN)
Alistair Stephens, CEO
Lindian Resources’ Kangankunde Project in the south-eastern African state of Malawi is one of the world’s most exciting rare earth resources.
It hosts a carbonite intrusive with simple metallurgy, grades of up to 23.7% TREO, and very low levels of thorium. The total inferred resource is 261MT at 2.19% TREO with an NdPr component of 20.2%, yielding 1.2MT of contained NdPr.
Lindian will produce a Monazite concentrate via basic gravity and magnetic separation at Kangankunde.
The Project is now fully permitted with a mining licence, environmental and social impact assessment licence, explosives permit and water permit.
Australian Rare Earths (ASX: AR3)
Travis Beinke, CEO
Australian Rare Earths is developing a portfolio of clay-hosted Rare Earths Resources in Victoria and South Australia.
At its Koppamurra project on the Victorian-South Australia border, AR3 has a JORC Resource of 186Mt at 712ppm TREO.
Since 2021, a total of approximately 65,000 metres has been drilled. The company has a large exploration target of between 340Mt and 3.1Bt.
AR3’s process flow boasts lower capital and operating costs compared to tank leach alternatives, with high recoveries for magnet Rare Earths of up to 72%.
Venture Minerals (ASX: VMS)
Andrew Radonjic, Managing Director
Venture Minerals has made a recent discovery at the Brothers REE Project including the Jupiter Clay Hosted Rare Earths Prospect. The Brothers Project includes the Iron Duke JV which hosts the Jupiter Prospect, a potentially significant REE clay hosted discovery in the Mid-West region of Western Australia.
Brothers is well located to significant infrastructure including the port of Geraldton, Iluka’s Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery and Lynas Rare Earths’ currently operating Mount Weld Concentrator.
Jupiter is on the way to becoming one of Australia’s largest High-Grade Clay Hosted REE discovery with the Australian record clay hosted intersection of 48 m @ 3,025 ppm TREO, and drilling consistently delivering high-grade zones (+2,000ppm TREO) over 20-30 m widths within broader zones up to 79 m grading well over 1,000 ppm TREO, over the entire 40 km2 target.
